Public pressure could convince Austria to file more murder charges

More public pressure could convince Austria to file more murder charges against Rakhat Aliyev.
Currently in a Vienna jail awaiting trial for two murders, among other crimes, that took place in Kazakhstan, Aliyev may face more murder charges – meaning that there’s a greater chance for justice for Anastasiya Novikova.
Austrian news reports say today that Aliyev could be indicted for more charges of murder.
The report first appeared in Der Falter news magazine and then in The Local, an English-language Austrian news outlet.
According to The Local, the “murderer ambassador” is “currently in a Viennese prison, awaiting trial for two – or more – murders.”
The report comes as Aliyev’s jailers moved him into a more secure cell after the accused murderer received threats, apparently from other inmates. Aliyev is not in solitary confinement out of concern that he may attempt to commit suicide.
According to Aliyev’s current lawyer, Manfred Ainedter, other prisoners attempted to extort money from the Kazakh gangster in order for him to be left alone, and that Aliyev has been subjected to “daily” threats of assault and intimidation.
Aliyev’s victims are watching Austrian actions closely. Aliyev’s earlier defense lawyer, Wolfgang Brandstetter, is now Austria’s Minister of Justice.
